Meet the faces behind David Barber Occupational Health:

David Barber

Managing Director

David qualified as a Registered General Nurse in 1987. As a student, he was a soldier in the Territorial Army, joining the Royal Army Medical Corps. After 5 years and 2 tours of Northern Ireland, he worked for BP as a Rig Medic and Safety Advisor. David moved to Nottingham, working as a Nurse on the Acute Medical Admissions unit. He later became an Occupational Health Advisor for Imperial Tobacco. David has a BSc in Health Studies, a graduate Diploma in Occupational Health, is on the Specialist Register with the NMC, and is a Fellow of the Royal Society for Public Health.

Kate Franklin

Operations Director

Kate is our Operations Director and also an Occupational Health Technician. Kate joined when the company was first established and has helped grow the company along with David and the rest of the team. Kate is our client’s main point of contact. Kate organises the diary for the whole of the team, as well as helping new and current clients with enquiries in regards to our Occupational Health services. Kate has completed several courses over the years including immunizations training for HEP B and flu vaccinations.

Lisa Cooke

Technical Director

Lisa is our Technical Director. Part of her duties include ensuring all the equipment is maintained and calibrated and staff training is up to date. She is also one of our technicians carrying out health surveillance for our clients. She has undergone training in spirometry, audiometry, drug and alcohol screening and face fit testing. She also holds a certificate in ‘Management of OH Services’ and has taken a number of courses recently including level 3 Dementia Care Practice, Understanding Mental Health and has just qualified as a Mental Health First Aider. In her spare time she enjoys going to the gym, socialising with friends and spending time with her family.

Anita Bell

Occupational Health Technician

Anita’s main role is to carry out our company’s health surveillance. When she is not working, Anita’s favourite hobby is going away for weekends in her caravan and socialising with her friends.

Denise Barber

Occupational Health Technician

Denise joined the company operationally in July 2023 as an Occupational Health Technician having worked for the NHS for 14 years in HR and business management roles. She has completed an OH Technician course and on-the-job training covering a wide range of health surveillance including spirometry, audiometry and drug and alcohol testing. Outside of work you will find Denise walking her dogs, reading or in her caravan.
